How To Style Statement Jewelry Without Looking Like A Fashion Faux Pas

Dear Ladies,

As we all can guess jewelry is an essential piece of every women’s look. It’s the final piece that says this is who I am and I love myself. You can never go wrong with jewelry. Those sweet and delicate pieces are great for everyday or a night out, but those big and statement pieces are the real show. Wearing statement jewelry can be a near impossible task for anyone. How to style that huge vintage baroque style necklace with a leather moto or that breathtaking cocktail ring for a girls night out. Just thinking about the struggle is a few grey hairs too early. There are just a few tips and tricks on how to style statement jewelry without being fined by the fashion police.

1. Fitting your agenda

When wearing jewelry one must always be aware of what she is wearing that day and what she has planned. If not much activity is being done that day a pretty big cocktail ring will be perfect or perhaps a gorgeous resin cuff/bangle. A nice statement gemstone necklace will be a safe bet. If a lot of activity will be done, stick to short statement earrings or a colorful necklace. Anything that is not on your hands will be best for that day.

2. Creating a balance

You never and I mean never wear 2 pieces of statement jewelry at the same time. Wearing 2 statement pieces will confuse the eye and will look horrendous. Instead focus on one main pieces and choose other more dainty pieces to accommodate it. Wearing complimenting jewelry with the statement piece is not necessary, but I personally like to add more. For example, a nice and big gold and black stone necklace paired with a thin gold bangle with diamonds (real or fake) and a thin white gold ring. This look will be best with an all black outfit.

3. Creating a blank canvas

As I stated before wearing an all black outfit will really make the pieces stand out. The key is to create a blank canvas for your jewelry to adorn. Wearing a neutral outfit will give the pieces space to shine. A black maxi skirt paired with a beige cashmere sweater and finishing it of with some killer black flats and a red trench, is the perfect idea of a blank canvas. The red trench is a fun addition but a beige trench will do just as fine.

4. Finding the right pieces

No women jewelry tastes are the same. We each have a unique preference on jewelry that no one can match. A huge diamond ring can be attractive to one women but other women can find it distasteful. Jewelry is very personal and that’s why it’s very hard to buy women jewelry. When you are shopping for jewelry, (a) shop alone and (b) don’t be afraid to go out of your comfort zone. If a certain piece catches your eye and you feel attracted to it, add it to your cart. Only fill your jewelry box with wow pieces that you love. As to why you shop alone is because getting another women’s opinion on jewelry, is perfect for her style not yours.
