4 Fabric Types To Invest In

Dear Ladies,

Lately I’ve realised with fast fashion on the rise quality clothing and qulaity brands are decreasing. Yes, there are some sustainable brands like Everlane, but our clothing is seeing more wear and tear faster than ever.

Which is why its so important to invest in good quality pieces. Minimalism has also gain a lot of attention recently and I can see why.

Minimalists really focus on the quality of their items and clothing. Just to think, isn’t it better to buy a good quality coat instead of buying 3 other coats that show wear after 3 wears?

It really important to look after you clothes but its also important to buy good quality clothing that can last you a life time. But how to look after your clothing is for another post.

This fashion letter we are going to take a dive into the fabric industry, and see which 4 fabric types are worth the investment.

I will also leave down below some brands that have quality clothing we should all buy from. Some of these brands are also sustainble.

Cashmere

Cashmere is often associated with luxury. But here’s the thing, cashmere is for everyone. (Especially for cold climate dwellers.) You don’t have to be a celebrity of popular fashion blogger to rock a cashmere sweater.

But lets first learn more about cashmere. Cashmere or cashmere wool is from the Kashmir goat and sometimes Pashmina goats. This fiber is incredibly expensive because each goat only grows around 4 ounces of cashmere.

Yes that small, also the process of processing the wool is incredibly tough. You’re really getting the quality from these goats.

Now that we have our backstory done, as you can see cashmere is worth the money. They keep you incredibly warm and they look extremly chic.

You can also look to brands like Garnet Hill for good quality and affordable cashmere products. If you have a trip to the mountains for a ski trip, cashmere socks and thermals are a must.

Silk

Would you look at that, another fiber that is deemed to be luxury. Silk is made from the larvae of silk worms and scientist have said there are numerous benefits of this fiber.

Some of these benefits being that it can reduce the signs of aging aka wrinkles when you use a silk pillow case. Silk scrunchies are also a great product to purchase, no more hair snags with these beauties.

Silk scarves are also extrelemy stylish and great for your hair.

To save you the hassle of detangling you hair place a silk scarf over your hair, if you don’t own a silk pillow case.

Silk is also temperature regulating. It keeps you cool when you’re hot and warm when your cold. Its a miracle fiber indeed.

There’s so many benefits that silk has for your skin, you can read all about them here.

Linen

Linen is a very good fiber for household items such as napkins and hand towels. Linen is originally made from the flax plant and it can be turned into the most softest and practical of clothing.

Linen has also been gaining popularity due to how many brands began to carry linen items, like H&M and ZARA.

Now this is not really a fiber you need to invest in, but I had to throw it on the list. Its such an amazing fiber to wear during the summer. Unlike cotton, linen is more airy.

It doesn’t soak up too much moisture, and it keeps you very cool. Linen is not temperature regulating like silk, but it sure can remove any worries of some serious sweating.

Leather

Leather is mainly made from animal hides but there are also vegan leathers, which can be made from mushrooms. I prefer to get vegtable leather instead of PU leather.

But for the quality I suggest you to get the real deal. I’m sure there are brands out there that have a great selection of vegan leather bags.

Leather looks better with age, which means that you will get a really unique piece as time passes.

But many leathers requires a lot of attention and care. But lucky for you there are so many brands out there that cater to leather goods. There are also some great Youtube videos on how to take of these delicate pieces.

Sending Off…

Today’s post was very beneficial to us all. Knowing where to spend and where to save is a must have skill if you want to learn to dress better. You already know my entire blog is all about helping you look and feel your best.

But you must also remember you should always keep a look out for quality clothing. Cyber Monday is in 2 days and I’m sure many of the brands listed below have some sort of sale going on.

These 4 fibers are the main items you should invest in, but other fibers like cotton, wool, nylon, etc you should still buy with quality. For your own sake stay away from polyester, its a terrible fiber in my opinion.
