Spring is here, and summer is yet to come, and we’re all probably fussing over which dress would not make me sweat like crazy in summer. Yep I’ve been there, and you know what I learned from watching modest fashion hack videos, well you have to keep reading to see. The warmer months are always the worst for us modest dressers because of the constant threat of sweat. (That rhymed!🙂)
I don’t think anyone wants to have their dress sticking to them. No thank you! I just have a few simple tips for you when you’re shopping for your next spring/summer outfit. But first here’s the criteria for dressing modestly in Islam.
- Loose top with loose long sleeves (can’t be a skin tight top, or anything with tight sleeves)
- loose wide kegs pants (can’t be skin tight or show the figure in detail, must cover ankle too)
- Maxi length skirt (can’t be sheer, must cover ankle fully)
Those seem pretty hard to follow but it’s not, it’s super simple once you get the hang of it.
1. Light Fabrics
This is a no brainer but not many truly think about the fabric content of their clothes. Some fabrics like polyester, and acrylic are sweat provoking fabrics, whereas fabric like cotton, and linen is more breathable. Breathable fabric is a yes in summer months, it’ll make you sweat less.
Fabrics for warm months
- cotton poplin
- cotton seersucker
Fabrics not for warm months
2. Light Colors
Light colors do not absorb as much sunlight like darker colors do. So in summer go for light colors, and try to stay away from black.
3. Vests (yes vests, hear me out on this)
This might be a weird one, but it’s not your average grandpa vest, I’m talking about those pretty cardigan style ones. These vests are often long, about thigh length and are very loose and lightweight. These vests are perfect for wearing on top of your dress or for wearing with pants to cover your bum.
