How To Find Colors That Looks Best On You

Salaam Everyone!

Welcome back to my blog, and a warm welcome to those who are new to my blog. Head over to my About page to learn more about what my blog is about, after this post of course.

As promised, today I’m sharing with you some easy tips to find the best colors that look good on you. In this post you will also find out what your skin undertone is, so I’m giving you guys a two in one.

These tips are super easy anyone can follow them, and you most definitely won’t need a stylist after learning which colors look best on you. So let’s hop to it everyone.

Do I Have A Cool Undertone Or A Warm Undertone?

Before we begin let’s see the difference between skin tone and undertone. Skin tone is the color of your skin, the one that you can easily see in the mirror. Your undertone is the hidden color of your skin, the one we can’t see directly.

To figure out whether you are, cool or warm undertone lets try these 3 methods.

The first method is the vein test. Go next a window, you’ll need natural light for this, it’s best to do this test during the day time. Look at the veins on the underside of your wrists.

Now take a look and see if your veins are more green or blue. If it is more on the green or olive side than you have a warm undertone, if you are more on the blue or purple side than you have a cool undertone. If you can’t tell what color your veins are than you might have a neutral undertone. Move on to the second method if you are neutral.

The second method is the paper method. Take a white piece of paper and put it against the skin between your neck and chest. Be careful to not compare the paper to your face, men and women naturally have redder faces due to hormones. The skin between your neck and chest, or your chest is a good spot.

Take a close look now, against the white paper does your skin look more red, or more yellow? Make sure your skin is not irritated when doing this test, that might confuse you. If your skin appears more red, than you have a cool undertone, if your skin appears more yellow than you have a warm undertone.

If you were neutral on the second method, this method should determine your skin undertone. And if you still don’t know if you’re warm toned or cool toned than you must be neutral.

The third method is the metal test. Place gold jewelry or gold satin fabric next to your neck and place silver satin fabric or jewelry next to your neck. Switch between the gold piece and silver piece and see which one looks best on you.

Which metal makes you look more radiant and better, which one doesn’t. If gold makes you look better than you have a warm undertone, if silver makes you look better than you have a cool undertone. If you look great in both than you are neutral.

  • Warm undertones look better in warmer colors.
  • Cool undertones look better in cooler colors.
  • Neutral undertones look good in most warm and cool colors.
